Villa Park Village President Kevin Patrick was on the receiving end of several pies at the Villa Park Community F.U.N. (Focus on Unifying Neighbors) Commission’s fourth annual Autumn Jubilee on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The event, which took place along the Illinois Prairie Path just west of Villa Avenue, featured food trucks, live music, vendors, face painting, and balloon art. The jubilee, which took place in warm and sunny conditions, also included a pie throwing fundraiser, with Patrick and others volunteering to have cream-filled pie tins shoved in their faces for a good cause. For a donation of $3 per pie, attendees could shove a pie into the recipient’s face. The other volunteers who received pies in the face during the fundraiser included Villa Park Village Manager Michael Rivas, Villa Park VFW Post Commander Jim Blankshain, and Willowbrook High School Athletic Director Ed Sullivan.

All proceeds benefited Villa Park’s Disciples Food Pantry, which is preparing to move from 1336 S. Villa Ave. to its new location at 507 E. St. Charles Road, Unit C, in the same shopping center as The Jewelry Exchange.

The food pantry needs about $25,000 to purchase new commercial refrigerators and freezers for its new location. The new refrigerators and freezers will help the Disciples Food Pantry continue to distribute healthy food to local families in need.
